...looking at Erich's clips makes me wonder how much of Rafa stepped
on the court against Roger in the final? After that bruising 5 1/4
hour match the night before some thought (mistakenly) that Rafa would
be tired.

from what I can tell from the highlights, Rafa was 100% fit and ready
for the final. if anyone looked tired, it was Rog. Rafa made some
Hall of Fame gets to take that first set.

let's also not forget that Rafa has a different style of running than
Roger does. Roger moves like a dancer; while Rafa is always throwing
himself into position. if anyone should have been tired, it was Rafa.

Roger is cursed. he's facing superman.

I think its always a bad thing to have so many rest days before the
final - takes you out of your rhythm since the entire tournament you
are playing every other day. That being said - I don't think the
outcome would have changed...

Rahim rubbish, the outcome of course can different if Federer was serving
better
than 30 or 40 percent he managed in both 2nd and 3rd set. Your opinion
often
goes from one extreme to another and that is well known in RST. I don't
think
I need to re-iterate you comments last year regarding Djokovic and then
Murray.

There are plenty of people who did suggest beforehand that a near 3-
day rest could take the edge off Federer's game ...

And the last match was against Roddick, so that wasn't really a match,
and the match before that was against Del Potro, which certainly
wasn't a match, so his last real mach was against Berdych...

well that will teach you Fedfans for continually fixing his slam draws,
perhaps next time you'll make him start :
a) on the proper day a number 2 seed is meant to play
b) make him play during the day time to toughen him up a bit
c) make him play against decent players instead of making his path a
cakewalk.

Yeah, fixing his draws has made him a couch potato and a mental
weakling. Couldn't beat tired Nadal even. Almost lost to...Berdych!?...lol!

Yup. Not only that but I bet the suspense was killing him about who he
would have to meet the first day of waiting. Would have been better for him
mentally had he played second this tournament.

It was the STUPID scheduling and draws that favored Nadal in the final.
See, Fed went in cold while Nadal came in hot after his last victory. heheh
;)
