one side randomly bombs civilians, kids, schools, buses etc and seem dumb
enough to think a few rockets will take out a nation state.
the other side does pretty much the same, albeit they say they are 'trying'
to target terrorists.

which one would you pick?

Please explain why power relation are "irrelevant".
Your notion that Hamas and the Palestinians are "morons" says much
more about you than about them.

What exactly are the point/goal of the rocket attacks then? what purpose do
they serve?

Is that a rhetorical or a truly serious question?

It's interesting to me, seeing the question being posed
as though the two groups in question are relatively
equal in power... the Palestinians are (relatively
speaking) fucked. Is it a *huge surprise* that they are
using all tools available to them? The Israeli gov't
have that ever -present cudgel, "the Holocaust",
useful and available, as though the Palestinians
(or anyone else, since Israel enjoys implicit
US backing- how else did they get those Nukes)
present a significant threat...

so what? power/size is irrelevant. You're saying we should be sympathetic to
a bunch of morons who pointlessly keep launching rockets into Israeli
civilian areas. Unless Hamas' real goal/point is to get their own citizens
bombed to bits.
