"Former World No. 2 Tommy Haas advanced to the second round with a
6-1, 7-6(8) win over 586th-ranked wild card and fellow German Lars
Poerschke, who was making his debut on the ATP World Tour. Afterward,
Haas also prevailed 7-6(4), 4-6, 12-10 in an exhibition match against

I can see why a tournament director may be persuaded to do this even
though if he is looking at the long term integrity of the tournament
he should probably reconsider some points. It may be ok to have an
exhibition against a player who has already been eliminated but
certainly there is something uncomfortable about a player who is still
in the draw playing such a match. Even looking at an eliminated player
playing an exhibition right after there are a few things to look at.
How much will he be payed for the exhibition and how much for moving
on to the next round?

I dunno about that man - I know and him go way back and all but let be
realistic he would have a hard time other than on grass where rallies
are short -er sometimes..

The guys today serve a lot better in general so he would have hard
time on his own serve - just look at how piolne even returned it with
newer technology .

if I could still play maybe i could relate to the supposed difference
as I used to use the old pro staff Courier / Sampras and all those
guys used as well and love it - then I again used to love agassis old
pro one 110 before that..

If he would rank *top 5* right now he woukd have beaten Haas with
ease. Esp since Haas had already played a singles match earlier in the
day...

samp would still be top50 though (probably)

They want to attract more fans to the tournament - having the goat on
the bill is huge boost.

Remember Fed said Sampras would rank top 5 *right now* if he hopped off
the couch.

But they could have put him in the final day against a player who lost
in SF or something. It is strange that he played against a guy who is
still in the tournament.

Sampras probably didn't lose his serve in that match.
