Raise your hand. He has 13 winners and 3 UE in the first set against
Gonzo he is playing very well. Go figure...

Simon has a decent chance if Nadal is a bit below his best - he is
prepared to stay out there long enough at least, though that is not
usually the way to beat Nadal.

This tournament isn't over yet. We were hearing this about Rafa before
last year's loss to Murray at USO
too.

That was the question I was to ask, since I was sleeping and did not
see anything of their match: was Gonzo able to run & hit "as usual"?
How had hed recovered from his win over Gasquet?

Things are looking goood for Rafa so far...
Yet I heard various top players saying that having a serious (5
setter, or multi tie-breaks) match on the run to SF / F is a good
thing: it's kinnda of putin' them in the mood.
Simon will be that test match for Nadal (or I hope so).
Nadal is a real montain of self confidence, he does not seems to need
"big" victories to get even more confident.

I have a feeling that both Simon & Tsonga really *want* to step into
the "big x" group.
On what he established as "routine" since his DC match, Verdasco is
another to be considered as serious. Seems obvious to everyone now he
has won over Murray.
What a lesson to the mass media marketers: people really enjoying
tennis, week after week, can't have missed Verdasco the way mainstream
media did, he should have been picked up as outsider, not as much as
Murray (no slam Final), but I hardly saw him on their list, bunch of
wankers!
Both have cleared their path with "the manner".
Never on fire (it was way too early), never in doubt (check Tsonga 3rd
set vs Sela)... Still there, not much stamina wasted...

Right now, Tsonga is leading 6/4 6/4 and came back from a break down
in the third, it's 4/2 Tsonga in the breaker.

Share & Enjoy,
Manolo

I agree Rafa always tries to impose himself in the centre of the
court, dictate as much as he can and usually does an excellent job of
it. He's been doing that a little better over the last few years
though, so nothing new really.

Gonzo wasn't very fresh though and didn't move nearly well enough to
pressure Rafa.

26 winners, 6 UE after set 2. 6-3, 6-2...
