It won't be, or there's very little chance it will be removed
immediately. Other then the slams, its one of the most lucrative
tournaments on the ATP.

Very nice of the top two men on the ATP not to show. That's great
stuff and noted.

I guess this means you agree with banning tennis players based on
nationality. I don't. I'd rather see the USO boycotted than have
government officials deciding who can play in their event.

<<She was denied entry into UAE, the country, by
goverment officials. Now that's something completely different. Every
country has a right to do that. >>

Then they'll need to deal with the fallout. They made their decision,
hopefully the WTA and ATP will boycott Dubai. Dubai needs to come off
the tennis map. You don't ban players from tournaments because of
their nationality. Not in this day and age where communication is very
alive, and well.

I asked a question as a mean of a explanation. It's actually very rude from
you to imply what you did.

The WTA/ATP knew this could well happen as it nearly happened last
year. Ram and Erlich wanted to play in the tournament then and the
same row was brewing until they decided somewhat mysteriously not to
go to Dubai.

The tennis authourities have had a year to sort this out but they have
ignored the issue and hoped it would go away rather than take some
action.

They don't want to lose the support of the UAE countries as they pump
millions of dollars into the game.

Well they have another year now...if it happens again we'll know WTA
officials are incompetent.

tournament but could do nothing about it since the decision to refuse
entry was made by the government. But I don't think they apologise to
Peer.

I don't think that qualifies as an asnwer to my question.

Peer was not denied participation in Dubai tournament by tournament
officials. If that was the case it would have been easy to resolve this.
Just scrap the tournament.

But it was not that simple. She was denied entry into UAE, the country, by
goverment officials. Now that's something completely different. Every
country has a right to do that.
Of course, in situations like this, the existance of such tournament,
should be reviewed, simply because it's bad for sport to have a tournament
in a country that doesn't welcome athletes from all nations. WTA should
negotiate this with tournament and the UAE goverment to make sure this
things don't happen.

However, it should be also noted that she was denied entry because she was
an *Israeli citizen*, not because she was Jewish. At least not primarily.
Even though I am sure Arabs aren't thrilled with that either, but the points
stands. It's a political dispute between Israel and the Arab countries.

I don't think also it's so impossible to imagine eg USA refusing to give
visa someone whose country killed several US citizen, or something like
that.

Just for the info, were there any Iranian tennis players at USO during the
hostage crisis?

I don't. Peer is a tennis player, she plays tennis. I don't care what
the context is.

Shame on Dubai - that tournament needs to be taken off both tours.

Does that mean Osama bin Ladens brother is welcome at the USO too ?

Or, any tennis player who is Al Queda ? Taliban ?

Any Jewish player is seen as the same by any Arab nation.

Spare me the fine print please.

Oh, and didn;t the USA once bar "Cubans" and other undesirables from
sports in the USA ?

Double standards at work again ?

Russians shoot down KAL 007 flying over a top secret Russian military
base in the dead of night.... US calls it BARBARIC ! Never a reason to
shoot down an unarmed civilian airliner ... EVER !!!

Spin forward.

USS Vincennes shoots down an Iranian airliner in broad daylite in
known civilian airspace on a scheduled commercial flight. Was it
barbaric ? No ! A tragic accident !!!

ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Time and time again when "they" do it it is tragic but then when we
do it it is justified.

Latest example .... Bushes torture, rendition, gulag regime. All that
we pinned on the old USSR came home to roost didn't it ?

I agree that it is a nice post. I would ad is that it is the Jewish
organizations and their hacks that make Jews and Israel the same thing
and it is they who label anyone critical of Israel's actions anti-
Semite, Jew hater, Nazi or whatever. Thanks to their hateful reaction
to any negative reaction to Israel=92s barbaric behavior, it is getting
harder and harder to separate Jews and Israel when it comes to
atrocities committed by Nazi Israel. Who is to be blamed for that if
not those who brand others anti-Semites for condemning the genocide of
Palestinians and stealing thier land?

she didn't play before either and I aggree sports sanctions are evil
and inhuman. I think this whole episode is thrown up to focus on
Israeli enemies in light of the recent bloody events.
Serbian athletes suffered the most of sanctions for almost 10 years.
Even current stars like Djokovic, Jankovic and Ivanovic had to travel
and go in debt to travel to hungary and spend lots of effort to
curtail american jewish inspired sanctions against Serbia. What I find
disturbing is hypocrisy is that people who throw sanctions are now
against it when it's one of their own. In comparison , this is just
one tourney and ironically , Dubai is the most liberal state in the
region

The shame is not in not letting Peer play but the shame is in not
sanctioning Israel for the barbarity of slaughtering the Palestinians
in Gaza.

this article is ignorant and hypocritical and should be ignored by all
decent people , jews and their western allies and puppets made it all
right to target sports and again whine when it hits them back .
Supremacist Jews love to throw sanctions at entire peoples including
sports, culture and civilians. They boast how it will teach them
"lessons" which is nothing but preclude for jewish tyranny. Remember
that these same jews banned serbian athletes for a decade and took
away their livelyhood, (Monika Seles wenth through hell because of it)

travel because of the jewish sanctions and even then it was too much

let me first say that the problem with your reply is that it shows that
you have fallen for the zionism=judaism bait by focusing on jews. that
is ultimately the goal of zionists because it enables them to change the
subject from criticism of israel as a nation to criticism of jews as
people.

as to donaldson's article, i think that it represents the kind of idiocy
which is the typical pandering to the pro-israeli lobby that you see in
the american media. it shows how uninformed donaldson is when he tries
that he would use arthur ashe's efforts to boycott south africa when he
apparently doesn't realize that israel was an *ally* of the apartheid
south african regime.

the other obvious ploy in donaldson's article is that he also plays the
zionism=judaism game and tries to suggest that peer was denied entry
into dubai because she was jewish. i suppose in donaldson's pea-brain
(that apparently passes for a mind) the people who were protesting
peer's presense at tournaments in australia earlier this year were
motivated by antisemitism.

personally, i support dubai in their decision to bar peer entry into the
country to play at the tournament for much the same reason that i
supported bans against south african participation in sports during
apartheid in south africa. in this case, dubai has said no to racism,
no to apartheid against palestinians and no to genocide.

i think that the protests against the racist, zionist israeli apartheid
state shows that there isn't a lot of sypathy for israel, in spite of
repeated efforts by zionists to paint their actions in the context of
the jewish holocaust during world war 2. as to players who refused to
withdraw in response to dubai's decision, if they felt similarly, they
certainly couldn't say so directly because the zioinist lobby in the
united states would act to cut off their sponsorship opportunities. in
this case, i am critical of andy roddick because his withdrawal is just
another form of pandering to the israel lobby.
