It is astonishing how infrequently Bush has had to personally face any
criticism. For eight years he has handpicked his audiences.

In the 2004 debates, somebody pointed out that this was the first time
Bush had had somebody criticize him to his face (and Kerry didn't do a
very good job). This is, AFAIK, the first time Bush has ever faced such
a hostile crowd, and the first time since 2004 that he had to listen to
somebody (the inauguaral speech) talking about his mistakes.

Also, I should have mentioned the White House Correspondents dinner,
where Stephen Colbert criticized Bush.
