Subject: Did Federer make racket changes playing against Murray?

This never fails with Federer. you always know he's throwing a match
when he never changes his racket. happens all the time now with
tune-ups. its a pity Federer has decided to do this since Sampras told
him to mainly focus on the slams now. you never know what to expect from
him in tune-ups now. but you always know when he's not giving it his
all.

I think that this year is going to be different than last year in this
regard. I think last year he really wanted to win tune-ups *and* slams but
couldn't do so consistently (whether it be because of mono or for other
reasons). This year, and especially seeing him play in this first tune-up,
I am not sure he cares as much anymore about tune-ups....

Finnish Eurosport commentator said that he never seen Federer so angry
as after last Murray match. So yeah...I don't buy that a bit.

Didn't even shake hands with the umpire. Hardly shook hands with Murray.

Let's be realistic about it...only reason why Federer would say he
doesn't concentrate on tuneups is because lack of his success there.

Yes, and he is always right... Too bad my recording ended in the
middle of the match, so don't know about that.

It is automatic when you have won as much as Sampras or Federer, you
are mostly interested in slams.

Well if I said that I personally, too, thought Federer was serious with
that match and looked angry and disappointed afterwards I would have had
to answer 10 replies how biased I am and how Federer didn't care a bit...

Well for my part, I think he wanted to win and was definitely disappointed,
but I also think he was not willing to give his all to do it. I think he
wanted to coast through.

Of course but that doesn't mean tanking matches elsewhere. For example
Sampras had poor success during his last years...

Sampras didn't win ANY "tuneups" between Miami 2000 and USO 2002.
HOWEVER Sampras played in 7 finals during that time and LOST ALL.
Clearly one wouldn't get into the final and then not be
"arsed"...especially during long period without any titles.

So my conclusion is that Sampras, Whispy and Federer can relocate their
excuses somewhere where sun doesn't shine.

No tanking. They want to win, they try to win, but the motivation just
isn't the same. It could be 99% motivation, but that makes a
difference.

When you win as much as Fed/Sampras any tune-up wins are completely
meaningless. Indeed they can hurt your chances for further slam glory
if you go too hard & get an injury.

More excuses from Fedfuckers. Fed was trying his darndest out there, but
Murray was overwhelming him with his "Huge game".
