1997 - Hingis
2002 - S. Williams
2003 - Henin
2007 - Henin

Mauresmo won 2 slams in 2006 but Henin was actually a bit more
dominating. Mauresmo won only 4 tournaments 2 of which were slams.
Henin won 6 tournaments which included a YEC

I am not sure I can Venus dominated 2000 and 2001 when she won only 5
tournaments each. Serena also won two slams in 2003 but she won only 4
tournaments. Capriati was even worse in 2001. She won 2 slams and just
one more tournament.

The real dominating years when Steffi used to win 3 (or 4 in 1988) and
win a lot of other tournements is pretty much over.

So you watch a doubles match and conclude they are very good. Of
course they are good, otherwise they wont be winning so many slams.
But they were not a continuously dominating entity.

My comment was just a reaction to the surprising number of dickheads on
this group, who I suspect wouldn't know which end of a tennis racquet to
hold.

Did you read my post. I said

1997 - Hingis
2002 - S. Williams
2003 - Henin
2007 - Henin

were the only dominating years from 1996-2008.

This seems a pointless analysis. If you have one really dominant player
at one stage, and perhaps three at another, there is no indication which
was the stronger era. They actually play differently now.

I went and watched some doubles yesterday, because it was a way of
escaping the heat. I enjoy watching tennis and golf because I play both,
and can appreciate how good the top players are. I have never played
cricket, so I can't appreciate how good they are. But when you watch a
golfer hit a ball 300 metres dead straight every shot, or watch Venus
Williams dominate a doubles match, you can realise how good they are.
I think Venus was brilliant last night. And Serena was also top notch,
although she joked about letting Venus have all the play after her
(Serena's) singles match just before. I also saw the start of the Bryan
brothers' match. This is seriously good tennis.

Bullshit. Henin just had one of those dominating years in 2007. Navarro is
the new Henin, watch out for her.

Crap analysis. You need to apply 7543 in order to see who was the most
dominating.
