My people are from all over since I have ancestors from all over the
world. Well, except Spain perhaps so maybe you=B4re right in questioning
=B4my people=B4 if your estimation of the Spaniards having more guts than
the rest put together is sound.

The largest part =B4of my own people=B4 though, the Dutch, have been able
to fend off the Spaniards successfully in the eighty year war. Also
known as the Dutch revolt, it led to the independant Dutch state or
the Netherlands.

Nadal did his own little version of the eighty year war on Dutch
territory this week and the Dutch managed to finally scare off the
Spanish onslaught with some Scotch :-D

One does not have to be a Spanish to admire their spirit. Spaniard is
another word for Spanish. I may not like everything about the Spanish
but their fighting spirit is unique and admirable. Nadal is a fine
example of it.
What is it that bothers you about my appreciation of their spirit?
Maybe because your own people have none?

Are they even known for great fighting spirit?

Germany comes to my mind, but even that only applies to the past footbal
teams, nowadays all professional and successful teams fight til the end.

The Sparta spirit is in the Spaniards exclusively? There I was
thinking spa's were all about exclusive leisure and relaxation.

They do have great Spa's in Spain I heard... hmmm makes you wonder if
they are exclusively Spartan there ;-)

soon enought the clay season starts... then we will find out about

It may not have been very smart to play this tournament and it may not
have been very smart to keep on playing with a bad knee but he took
his beating without whining and excuses.
My hat is off to Nadal and the Spaniards for having more guts than all
the rest together.

Agree. It was stupid. He should be getting ready for the clay season.

He shouldn't have played this tournament. It's too soon after the AO.
Why did he play anyways? Pressure from the ATP?
