His movement is back to good levels and his serve is back to GS mode.
I remember in 2008 wondering why he coudln't return any decent shot
hit out wide to his forehand side - those days are gone.
The odds have shifted a lot on betfair market (AO winner market):

Federer 2.9
Murray 4.3
Nadal 4.8
Djokovic 9.5

At the same time, he hasn't needed to display great tennis in these
matches. As always with Korolev, and more and more as Safin's movement
deteriorates, all you have to do is get the ball back. He's certainly
been moving well, and that's already far more than we could say a year
ago.

That's what I said.

I think that had a lot to do with Fed. Roger at that level should win
the tournament but I suppose there's
always the chance that Murray, Nadal or Djokovic could trouble him if
his level drops in the big matches.

Also, his serve looked fine to me. If he had been taking something off
of it in tune-ups, it's back in full force now. And his movement
looked great.

He will commit more errors against baseline cleaners like Murray,
Nadal.

Yep, Federer looks rock solid. But against an error-prone Safin. So
don't know how much that's worth.

That's exactly what he has looked like in his first three matches.
Solid. Playing solid, waiting the opponent to make mistakes. No great
tennis yet. We'll see if he finds it when he needs it.
