Subject: Federer / Del Potro
It's been a long time since a last saw Fed that relaxed.
He had just won the opening game of the second set, broke Del Potro to
love...
Now leads 2/0 after a quickly won serve.
Federer has done two great dropshots in that two first games of the
second set.

Del Potro is looking like he's lost, totally lost at the moment:
0/30 on his serve, he gained just ONE point in the second set (one UE
from Fed!)
JM aced, so 15/30, but lost next point, so 15/40...
30/40 Federer missed his bh passing shot.
40/40, second ace on this service game.
Adv Del Potro, third ace (two in a row)
Back to deuce, Federer won a rally (BH in the net from JMDP)
Adv Federer, wide BH from JMDP, coming to the net.

3/0 Federer.

JMDP is playing a lot to Fed's BH, wich doesn't seem to fail today.
most of the time Fed can turn around and hit FH, he's putting JMDP in
serious troubles.

Not the minimize JMDP performance so far, but from the Fed' side, it's
a lot like routine!
Very simple, efficient play. Not much for the show, appart from
dropshots, and the half-volley to lead 15/0 on his own serve now.

40/15, good serve, good wide FH, JMDP was meters from playing that
one.

4/0 Federer.

It's not only because of Federer's game.
Fed didn't play outstanding tennis today.
It's about the mind, the attitude: Federer today is making things look
like it is impossible, not only to defeated, but as well to simply
"hurt" him a bit.

6/3 6/0 6/0 & 1 hour 20 minutes
It does tell the story like very few scoreline this year (the Verdasco
smashing over Stepanek).

Conclusion:
It does take something *really* *really* special to beat Federer at
slam, since he won his second Wimby at least.
He only lost to future winner, and never before SF.

Has there been a single other player having such... facts?

Federer is in hurry-up mode to conserve energy for the matches ahead,
given the temperatures forecast. Always better to have your tough,
long matches early to get match-tight, but also have time to recover.
The worst thing is a long quarter or semi.

No: 100% of tennis players, even for Federer there's still room for
doing things better (okay, lot of ATP past & present, have much much
room than Rogga to improve!).

At last, one winner from JMDP!
The crowd rewarded him too few, IMO.

And the third set started like some carbon-copy:
JMDP broke to love, Federer esily hold his serve.
2/0 Federer.

My god, this is clinical killing, raw dispatching.
0/40 on JMDP' serve.
The crow should support JMDP a lot more.
It's cruel to see the kid totally lost, confused.

3/0 Federer.

Del Potro has lost focus.
He forgot than he was there to win the match, not to skip a bagel!
His tatics are so wrong.
He needs to try something new; and all the impression I have since he
lost his serve for the second time in this set is that he only tries
no to loose it 6/0.
Federer is making fool of him, while not loosing his own goal: clean &
quick victory.
So far, so good 40/0
Triple occasion to bagel JMDP.
Done, 6/0.

My word, JMDP only won 8 points in that set...

Del Potro doesn't do enough to cause Federer problems - solid flat one-
paced groundstrokes without a massive weapon do not cause Fed
difficulties. DP does not approach the net much and lacks variety on
his shots - needs to vary the pace and develop a slice backhand to
move to next level.
