Enough Fed Nad trash talk from their insipid fans. What are the
predictions for the upcoming women's final?

Safina d. Serena 6-4, 7-6

true, I'm down a little bit :)

Safina will keep running like crazy, she is fit and strong. I was
worried about Serena playing doubles.
If Serena is fit, no one can match her mental toughness.

That's not a fair comparison. Safina is currently ranked #3 in the
world, and Serena is #2.

I expect you're a bit further down the ladder from Federer and
Nadal. :)

Yes sure, if I keep telling myself that I shouldn't lose to Federer or
Nadal, it won't help me to win a single point against them.

My prediction is that if I get up at 3:30 a.m. for the third day in a
row, even if I go back to bed after a couple hours, I will be too
tired to go snowboarding tomorrow. And I'm not going to miss this
snow, so I'll have to miss the match. But I'm sure skimming the RST
"transcript" later will be better than live commentary. :)

I would be happy to see your prediction come to pass. I just wouldn't
bet on it. Most players wither mentally in the face of Serena's
intimidation tactics, even ones who are stronger than she is. Henin
was an exceptional reverse of this: she could match Serena mentally,
but be overpowered physically by her at times.

Safina should give Serena her stares and shrieks and fist-pumps right
back at her. I hope she brings that attitude on court with her and
maintains it to the end.

She showed a lot of grit this tournament. And it's not her first
final.

Safina has all the power and all the shots she needs to beat Serena. I
think you are right that it is a matter of self-belief, and
unfortunately, I doubt if Safina believes she can (or *will*) beat
Serena in a slam final.

It all depends on what Safina thinks her chances are. She pulled out a
win this week by telling herself she should not be losing to that
particular player. So, if she believes she can beat Serena she will.
Serena thinks she's the better player, but Safina looks very fit so;

Safina in 3.

Which other Russian? The one you named your blowup doll after?

Safina the last person standing between Serena and another Slam trophy?

Not a chance.

There's a chance. Serena could fall apart and lay a total egg. But
barring that, she should win.

lol. not fucking happening. Serena will trample over Marat's lil sis
so bad just like she did to that other Russian two years.

Serena d. Safina 3-6, 6-4, 7-5. Safina gets a firing start, but Serena
eventually finds her way through.
