I said:

Fed was just tiring him out the first two sets. (he did)

Then I said Berdych would implode. (He did - 3rd set)

Then I said Fed would take over the match once the shade fell. (He did
- 4th set).

Then I said Berdych would get brain cramps. (He did - 5th set).

And, I said after he was down two sets to love he would win the match.
(He did).

Clearly you can't get any better than that !!!

Actually everyone yesterday said, straight sets, no contest, Berdych
has no weapons against Fed, cakewalk draw etc. etc. etc. I said this
will be tough.

Roger came out very flat & uninspired - understandable given Berdych's
very poor performances against him last 7 matches. If he came out the
same way as he did v Safin then 61 63 63 win for Roger.

This was my remark yesterday;

<<I go out on a limb and say I don't think Federer will dispose of
Berdych easily. >>

Berdych looked like a man on a mission in his previous match, so I'm
not surprised he did as well as he did.

He was looking for an excuse to lose and he found it in the hamstring
problem. As Bud Collins said, he'll find a way to lose this match.

That is highly unlikely.

Berdych started playing worse, Federer better. Nobody imploded.

Yes, but I doubt that shade, or lack of it, had much to do with it.

Can't argue with that.

You say that every time. Like Whisper's predictions, even you are
going to be right sometimes.

Big Bird played exceedingly well in the first 2 (and first half of
third)
and wasn't at all bad in 4th or 5th. Fed picked up his defense,
reduced his UE's and in general raised the level of his game.
Nobody spots a 2-set lead to his opponent to 'tire him out'. Get
real.

Even Federer admitted after the match that the first set he couldn't do much.

sure. i don't think Fed wanted to lose those 2 sets but i am also sure
he knew that berdych tends to fade and the longer the match went on
the easier it would be for him and it sure played out that way.

er ... precisely i said Berdych would get worse from here on out, not
better. That was "spot on".

oh i think it did mainly because of the shadows and the ball/players
moving in and out of sunlight. that's tricky.

Big Bird was hitting him almost off the court in the first two sets
PERIOD... then Feds defense began to become a MAJOR factor, his
serving began to find his targets and then the hitting came back on
line... BUT... as predictions go that was VERY GOOD Dave...
