Subject: If Seles didnt get stabbed Steffi would have won more slams than 22
Steffi had already won 11 by the time Seles got stabbed.

1987 - 1
1988 - 4
1989 - 3
1990 - 1
1991 -1
1992 -1

Lets assume she played until 1996. Lets try to stick to reality as
much as possible. So Graf would indeed be injured in AO 1995 and 1996,
Wim 97, USO 97, AO 98, and FO 98 and that she retired in 1999 USO.

So now we have 1993-1996. Lets assume Seles was infact superiror to
her at AO and Steffi could never beat her except in 1994 when she
played out of her mind. I dont think Seles would have ever beaten her
at Wimby and also Seles wasnt good enough to make finals in Wimby
every year. In USO lets call it 50-50. Seles has never beaten Graf on
the fast USO surface. And at FO, Steffi might have easily won at least
1-2 of their encounters.

So this is my conjecture...

1993 - Seles, Graf, Graf, Graf
1994 - Graf, Seles, Graf, Seles
1995 - Seles, Graf, Graf, Graf
1996 - Seles, Graf, Graf, Graf
1997 - Graf, Graf, Hingis, Hingis
1998 - Hingis, Seles, Graf, Graf
1999 - Graf, Graf, Graf, Graf

With Seles in the mix, it would have only made Steffi better, barring
injuries she would won many slams and retired in 1999 with 30 slams.
Hingis slam count would have been reduced and Danchez wouldnt have
been able to win crap with both Seles and Graf playing very well.
Seles would have won 5 slams more winning a total of 13 slams.

So essentially we are talkin Graf (30) vs Seles (13). Gunther harmed
both of their careers.

If he had stabbed Sampras he would have saved us from those boring

No one. Gunther is a moron. He had to ruin women's tennis. He should
have stabbed Sampras/Ivanisevic and saved us from those boring
Wimbledon finals.

So who actually profited by Gunther's amazing action?

I'd say Graf (23-25) and Seles (11-13).

you forgot she almost did a CYGS in 1999 while having absolutely not
much preparation. She also had made up her mind to retire even before
the final. If she wasnt thinking of retiring at that year, she would
have done a CYGS. There was no one to stop her

"After missing almost half of the tour in 1998, Graf defeated World
No. 2 Hingis and World No. 1 Lindsay Davenport en route to the
Philadelphia title. At the first round of the season-ending Chase
Championships, Graf defeated World No. 3 Jana Novotn=E1 to become the
first player to defeat each of the top three ranked players in four
matches.

At the 1999 French Open, Graf reached her first Grand Slam final in
three years and fought back from a set and two breaks down in the
second set to defeat the top ranked Hingis in three sets. Graf also
became the first player in the open era to defeat the first, second,
and third ranked players in the same Grand Slam tournament by
defeating second ranked Davenport in the quarterfinals and third
ranked Monica Seles in the semifinals. Graf said after the final that
it would be her last French Open"

Why not? If Seles was still playing well and she came back after
missing 4 slams with injury, she will go ape-shit on the competition.
Also her resolve to break all records would have been higher.

what nonsense. Not only this is a ridiculous coulda/woulda but there's
no way Graf would have won six slams in a row from 1998-99 at the tail
end of her career whatever happened.
