The one thing that jumps out as a huge area for Murray to improve is
the second serve.

Of all the top players, his 2nd serve is really lacking in pace.

At his AO matches, his average speed was in the 130 km- range (less
than 85 mph), which is considerably
less than any other top player (Nadal's second serves are in the 140
km range, Fed's 150s, Roddick's 170s.

FWIR, in the USO final Fed was really teeing off on some of Andy's
second serves and no doubt would look to
do more of that if they meet at Wimby or other big events later this
year.

It seems Murray's made some nice progress with his 1st serve % but now
the next thing is make sure that 2nd isn't attackable.

I honestly don't pay that close attention to tune-ups, so I didn't
happen to see much of Roger's matches with
Andy outside of Slams.

But what do you think of Murray's second serve? Do you think it's an
area he needs to improve or what?

So it is your contention that outside of slams Federer says to himself 'I
won't bother going after these Murray 2nd serves'?

maybe outside of slams murray does not have to resort to 2nd serves as
often. you know, pressure and all that.
