Amazing defense by Monfils against Almagro. Once in a while some
breathtaking shots as well. He plays really smart, I must say.

PS.

As a pro tennis player, Monfils would make a good rodeo clown. Or a
banana tallyman.

I can't believe some of the shots Monfils are executing here... Some of
the best I have seen. And Almagro is not playing that bad at all. But
now he is down 0-2 in sets. Monfils can really get far if he continues
this kind of play.

PS.

Yes, it's hard to believe some of the passers he's coming up with.
Only Nadal could make these.

la monf has got the goods. he may not quite be ready to win grand slam
titles because the best of 5 format may work against him. in a best of
5 format, management of the ebb and flow of the match is very important
and i'm not sure that he is there yet. the other thing that you have
to do in grand slams is to win one big match and then turn around and
play another one without experiencing a letdown. i think that is what
happened a few weeks ago when monfils beat nadal and then had a letdown
and lost to roddick.

in the last game of the second set, monfils hit an incredible winner off
a tough shot from almagro. after the point almagro appeared to engage
in some sort of verbal exchange with monfils. what was that all about?
