Yes. Like "Lendl was dominating 1989, despite the fact the lost
against Becker in Wim SF and USOpen F, furthermore got his ass spanked

We all have gone a gazillion time over this. YE#1 is a jackpot stat
and has no significance whatsoever. Sampras won 4 tournaments in 1998.
He didnt dominate that year.

Bad matchup issue may be. Also Lendl was 9 years older. But he
dominated the rest of the field. Becker didnt, And both those matches
were close. Especially the 89 Wim semi which could have gone either
way. You are just trumpeting Becker because you are German.

I have exact numbers somewhere but it was smt. like 120-17. (yep those
days they played a lot more, Laver played 1969 about 33-35
tournaments. some of them was "exhibition" nature by today's standards
and most of the smaller events were only 8/16 draws.
