Care to break it down? A more legit question is
whether Rafa will ever reach the AO/USO final. He
has been at peak for the past 3 years, at least and
hasn't managed that even in his best year, 2008.
We will soon find out how shot his knees really are.

He's got a great chance at this year's AO. Legs are well rested. AO's
Plexicushion surface is slated to get faster though. I'd probably do a
quick youtube video comparison between 2009 Hopman with the 2008
version to get a clue on the court speed change.

Right. All you have to beat is "Roddick will get twelve Slams", and
you'll be well above your goal.

And that's "shoo-in", not "shoe-in", and "whisper", not "whsiper".

Given that Nadal has great finishing power off both wings and has Feddy as
his little bitch, he's a shoe-in for 10-15 slams.

He simply can't come close to 10-15 unless he becomes #1 on a hard
court and I can't see that ever happening with the likes of Federer,
Murray, Djokovic, etc around. Plus he will fade on clay as his knees
get worse and worse too.

Shoo Wendy, shoo!

"A race horse so fast that you can merely shoo it across the finish line
rather than having to urge it on with stronger measures is a “shoo-in”:
an easy winner. It is particularly unfortunate when this expression is
misspelled “shoe-in” because to “shoehorn” something in is to squeeze it
in with great difficulty."

or

"Shoo in" was originally a racetrack term, and was is applied to a horse
expected to easily win a race, and, by extension, to any contestant
expected to win an easy victory. According to the Oxford English
Dictionary, the first use of the term in print dates back to 1928. A
"shoo in" was originally a horse that was expected to win a race, not by
virtue of its speed or endurance, but because the race was fixed. The
sardonic "subtext" of the original usage, now lost, was that the
designated horse would win even if it were so lackadaisical in its
performance that it simply wandered somehow up to the finish line and
had to be "shooed in" to victory."

I don't remember; I may have. But last year at this time we didn't know
Federer had mono. My point in any case, stands. This time last year we had
two top players on the ATP, with Djokovic getting closer. Now, we have
three, with Murray threatening all of them. On clay Nadal is still way
ahead of everyone else. but all three of the other four are terrific hard
court players. Plus, the ratio of required points has been skewed a little
more towards hard courts. Nadal may well be able to rise to these
challenges; it will still only get harder for him as the competition
increases, his body ages, and the heavy physical game he plays takes its
toll. So far, he's coped very well.

What? ...Federer had mono??? When?

I believe Nadal has entered his peak years and will crush all
opposition. He beats nowadays his Blakes, Youzhnys, Roddicks and
Gonzalez's(is this correctly spelled?) and does have a very good record
against players of his own age group. It will be a very good year for us
Nadal fans.

I expect Nishikori to make some some surprises this year. I believe
Federer will continue his downward path as my ranking point graph
displays, sorry. Interesting to see who will be rank 2 end of the year,
Djokovic or Murray.
I'd like to see some Nadal vs Federer finals still though.

Yes, although I expect he won't really come into his game until 2010.

Yes. We'll see. I'll bet against you: Fed to end the year #1 with Djokovic
#4 and Murray and Nadal fighting it out for #2.

How well did Feddy do from 22-25? 'Nuff said.

Nadal is not Federer, how well Federer did from 22 - 25 does not translate
or directly relevant to how well Nadal will do at the same age.

that is true, Nadal won a slam in his teens, like Sampras did, he's such an
adaptable player he could win them into his thirties like Sampras did too.

He could also not win a slam at all after this year. But realistically he
has
a shot winning 10+ slams but 15 I doubted he needs to win another 10 which
means at least 2 slam every year in the next five years. Federer's level
is
dropping but there are other players coming through the rank and won't make
Nadal's job on winning slams on non clay court surface easier. Winning
slam as a teenager also does not mean he will win slam in his 30s and says
little about him been adaptable.
