record?

TIA

Well it was exciting until the middle of the first set, now it's
looking pretty routine.
I'd appreciate your help Dave.

Maybe the problem I'm having is that I purchased
Replay AV/8 by Applian Technologies

and not Replay Media Catcher?

It's the same company though.

OK great, let's talk about Replay Media, because I have it.

First off, if I simply use the programs automatic URL finder
it can't find the URL for channelsurfing.net, no matter what.

If I try to do it manually in the program I need to input the URL,
but of course I don't know the URL for the channelsurfing.net
flash boxes showing the tennis.

So let's assume that RM will record it.
*** How do I get the URLs to manually insert into the program?***

TIA

Thanks, if you could provide a few more details on how this can be
done
with Mplayer and flash as well it would be appreciated.
Also what version Mplayer would be required?
I've stayed away from new versions and use Mplayer Classic when I'm in
a pinch.

TIA

any software that will capture a rtmp flash stream such as replay
media catcher will do it.

To record rtmp:// flash video .flv stream from embedded Adobe Flash
Player may use the following RTMP Flash stream rippers:

* Replay Media Catcher - can find rtmp:// stream URLs and
automatically download RTMP flash video .FLV streams and RTMP .MP3
audio streams from embedded Adobe Flash player. Downloads many RTMPE
streams too. Replay Media Catcher records more sites than other
products we have tested. Recommended!

Other products:
* Bit Recorder - automatically captures packets coming to your
flash player. Supports RTMP and HTTP protocols, flash video .FLV files
and .MP3 audio files.
* Orbit Downloader can download RTMP flash videos. Its Grab++ can
find RTMP stream URLs.
* Rip Tiger can download RTMP and HTTP flash videos automatically.
* WM Recorder can find rtmp:// stream URLs and automatically
download RTMP flash video .FLV streams and RTMP .MP3 audio streams
from embedded Adobe Flash player. RTMP stream recording of WM Recorder
is at the early stage, so there are some problems with recording live
RTMP streams (like live video chats), recording RTMP through HTTP.
* FLV Recorder can capture packets coming to your Adobe Flash
Player. It can save RTMP and HTTP .FLV flash video streams to HD, but
it doesn't work with RTMP .MP3 streams.
* Jaksta can download RTMP and HTTP videos from Adobe Flash Player
* NetTransport can download RTMP and HTTP .FLV videos from Adobe
Flash Player. The problem is that the program can't find RTMP stream
URLs.

And of course you can record RTMP video streams from embedded flash
player using screen video capture software, but RTMP Flash stream
ripper like Replay Media Catcher and FLV Recorder allows you to save
such streams without any quality loss.

I use mplayer from the command prompt. You can get it in a Zip file, so
you don't need to do any installing or anything, just unpack and
run.

The command would look something like

mplayer -dumpstream -dumpfile your-file-name <url >

Whether this actually works with flash, I'm not sure. OTOH, mplayer
plays flash and saves streams, so maybe it's able to save flash streams.

You still need to dig up the url from the source. In the case of
chanelsurfing, the html code that loads the player and content are
encoded into a document.write(' ... ') statement. I don't have the
necessary tools to handily decode the ' ... ', so I let that be. Anyhow,
I did check a couple of characters from the beginning and it turns out
out be htlm.

The problem sometimes it's a real video coming on a url that you can
record but the AO streams are coming as flash. One thing you can use
is to capture the screen to a file. Try using "Freez screen video
capture".

Good luck.

Mplayer can dump streams on disk. Haven't tried flash in particular,
though.
