He did not even win YEC after beating Federer by losing to Davydenko.
He beat Federer many times as well before losing to him in USO.

Brisbane is the same surface as the AO as far as I know, and it was
supposed to be faster than Doha.

Also the Hopman Cup in Perth was played on a court which looked very
like the AO surface, and it again looked faster than Doha (though hard
to tell exactly as the camera angle was low making it look fast
anyway).

The general consensus last year was that the new AO surface was a bit
faster than the old one. I don't think it would be descibed as "very
fast" though.

Yup, overwhelming favorite right now.

I maybe wrong about this since I didn't follow the AO last year, but I
thought everyone said that the surface last year was slower than in
previous years...

There were very different comments last year. Some said it was fast,
some said it was slow, that was really weird. If it's the same as
Doha, that has looked pretty slow to me this week.

I doubt it - my money is on Nadal to win the AO, he will be fresh
unlike the US Open and he should take Murray out on the slow courts
there. And for the record, Murray only beat Fed twice before the US
open, which can hardly be characterized as "many times"...

I felt urge to correct. Plexicushion, which is used at AO, is very fast
surface.
