Subject: Stefanki very open about Roddick's tactics ...
... saw him talking to Wilander on Eurosport about what Roddick needs
to do v Federer - surprisingly no attempt to keep any tactical
secrets.

Main things are return of serve and playing close to the baseline -
these were worked on hard during off-season after Stefanki observed
Roddick not doing these well last season.

He calls Roddick a "big body guy", and playing back from the baseline
exposes him to a lot of running and opens the angles for Federer, etc.

He's also targetting Federer's "garbage shot" (his words), the chipped
backhand return of serve - this gives Federer an advantage if Roddick
stays back on second serve, since "Federer moves better" once the
rally goes into neutral. Roddick can't let Federer away with that shot
- expect him to come in behind a lot of kick second serves looking for
a floaty backhand return to put away.

Looks like Roddick will be mixing things up, looking to get to the net
but only from decent situations rather than charging in at all
costs ...

If Fed's "garbage" return stops working, he'll stop
using it.

Let's see how the match goes.

That really is refreshing!! Finally someone dared to give that return
of serve a name it rightly deserves.

He is playing in Roger's head and giving him some doubts about what he
usually does against Nady.
