No ass picking.

No ball bouncing bouncing bouncing.

No breaking the time rules.

No phoney medical timeouts.

No choking on bananas.

No lining up stupid lil bottles.

Just great tennis played the way it was meant to be.

Federer's defence kept him in the third set - tremendous play by him.
At the level Safin was playing, he should have at least got a
breakpoint or a set point - but Federer held it out.

Some shots were quite amazing the forehand squash shot on the dead
run, the short angled slice low to Safin on the run, and the final
pass to win the match - great play.

Fed's looking good.

not sure about that - only confidence issues imo. mobility isn't too
bad

Poor performance by Safin though. That being said, Federer seems to be
in good shape now. Less UEs than in the previous rounds.

PS.

Unfortunately for me I watched the pre-match interview with Safin,
where he suggested that there was no way for him to beat Federer. The
commentator asked if was at least going to try. Kind of ruined this
match for me where the mindset has already been determined.

He's doing his best to make Federer look good. That's about it.

That was obviously a "head fake". You can see Safin *wants* to win
this match badly.
