A golden chance was missed to knock an all-time great from a Slam
event.

And the other potential winners of the tournament can't be too
thrilled even if they'd never show that publicly.

He lost to Tim Gullikson and came close to losing to Kevin Curren,
both in prime years. Borg in his prime was taken to five sets at
Wimbledon by Victor Amaya!

When Federer struggled through five sets with Andreev at last year's
USO, people were saying the same sorts of things as with the Berdych
match. All that matter in these matches is who advances, and it
predicts nothing of the winner's form in the next round.

Didn't JMac go five sets with Barry Cowan (or somesuch) at Wimbledon,
near Mac's prime?
It's not as though Berdych can't play, folks.

LOL. Good one.

Explain this. It was a best of five if I recall correctly. Why does
losing two sets imply that you should lose the match?

Oh yes, it is. Roddick has nothing to hurt Federer at their current
form.

Roddick's got a good shot at the semis. Imagine if he didn't have to
play Fed, then he'd have an excellent shot at the final.

I agree. Even if he plays Fed it's not a foregone conclusion.

play Fed, then he'd have an excellent shot at the final.

Roddick will be playing Djokovic/Bagman in the QF and will probably come up
against Fed, now Fed escaped a match that he should have lost and I think
he will
go through to the final.

And how could I possibly forget Roddick?

Why not? Everyone else has.
