Subject: There will be no fairness in God's world if Serena wins her 10th slam
No way in hell is Serena > Seles. Even if she wins her 10th slam, I
still consider Seles > Serena. Serena's slam record is seriously
inflated.

Serena has 2 Wimbledon wins to Sele's 0. Serena had to beat the 2nd
best grasscourt player since Graf to get those wins. So Serena

++ The Williams sisters effectively play half seasons and just look to
5 or 6 events a year they want to win... Serena loves being her
verions of a diva...

I agree. I thought Sharapova gave a good effort at the AO. But now she
is out the game for more than 6 months, and it is doubtful if she will
come back with the same dedication as she did in YEC 07 and AO 08.

Its been really quite pathetic since Graf retired. Its almost like a
curse. It seems like Graf will be the last real champion!

It's been sorry stuff since Graf retired. NOBODY on the female side
is giving it 100%
so you get default champs.

Too much money. No motivation.

I've heard this sentiment echoed in soccer, too. Older stars say that kids
these days get a multi-million euro contract at 20, so they lose the hunger to
keep fighting. Some have said that, for example, Messi doesn't give 100% for
the national team. "The kid is making about a million euros a month in
Barcelona, you think he's gonna come here to really 'wet the jersey'?".

(wetting the jersey, "mojar la camiseta", is the phrase usually used to
describe the level of commitment of a player, i.e. he almost sweats blood
running all over the turf or he barely breaks a sweat because he doesn't give
a shit)

We had a promising player here that was completely absorbed by the party
scene... sad case, because the kid was talented and had an exceptional
physique for a chilean player (6'2", wide shoulders, could have been a great
striker in the style of Vieri or Ronaldo, the ones that will simply go forward
and no matter how many guys you pile in his path he'll come through). But he
liked the party and the $$$ more than he liked to train, and now he's heading
for a contract in Cyprus instead of playing in a mid-level
italian/english/spanish club (where I believe he could have easily gone to if
he had kept his eyes on the ball).
