I would probably say yes. He already made history at Wimby by equaling
Borg's record. But to lose this one is embarrassing for him. There is no
reason any longer to doubt it - Nadal is now a better player. Then we
will of course have the discussion: Is Federer beyond peak? It is a
tricky one. Because he still dominates match-ups with almost any other
player on tour and back in 2005/2006 he still lost to players at
important stages (Safin, Nalbandian).

Federer needs to forget the GOAT talk, get back to basics and forget
about Nadal. Nadal is in his head. Why would he serve so badly if not?

PS.

Wimbledon would have been worse because it's the most important title for
Federer. The AO result is pretty bad, though. It's on the one surface on which
he previously had clear superiority over Nadal. Even worse is that there are
_two_ hardcourt slams, so now Roger has to worry a lot more about his USO title
than he did before.

Roger's stuck for life with just 13 majors.

U.S. Open?

Nadal's this year.

Pretty much agree with everything. I mean he wasted a ridiculous number of
break balls and served total shit, not to mention the mental collapse he had
in the last set. It is his toughest loss, a real blow as he has seen he
doesn't have the edge on Nadal anywhere. The kid is in his mind. You can
learn to run better and hit better but it is really difficult to keep a
thought out of your mind.

In that case we have to say that Nadal's performance is not as great as
if Fed was in his peak.
