I guess that's part of hitting so many winners (with a corresponding

No entirely right...
'Nando is trying to fix Nadal on his BH, than he goes as often as
possible flat out to Nadal's FH.
Clever choice, not the first to do it, maybe the first lefty to handle
Nadal's game enough to prevent Rafa turning around his BH too often.

Nadal 5/4 third set...

Nadal stopped trying to run around his backhand after about 1 1/2 sets,
of lots of running around.
