The AO title and Fed's 14th slam is all but a formality now.

Murray was the only one who could stop him and he's gone bye bye now.

Federer will have his hands full with Del Monte man and Djoker. The
worst final opponent for him would be world rank 1 who he hasn't won in
over a year.

Rafa hasn't beaten Fed on a hc in years !

Fed has 8 HC slams to Rafa's 0.

I'd say that gives Fed a very significant edge.

Federer might never beat Nadal again.

No, Murray was the only one who could have stopped Rafa making the final. Now
Rafa will breeze through and be fresh. By losing, Murray has made it harder for
Fed.

Have to agree. Seems like my "Rafa will win an AO" prediction will come to
pass before I thought it would.

I don't think Murray is the only one who could stop Rafa makding the final.
I think Simon
can certainly do it and if not Tsonga can also do the job. Tsonga has gone
through this draw
very well without too many long matches. If he can get past Verdasco without
using too much
physical reserves I think he will be in good shape to beat Nadal again. I
expect Simon to give
Nadal a tough match in QF.

Unlikely if he plays like he did against Monfils, though, as the commentators
were saying, Monfils really screws up his opponents' heads.

Very likely because Simon has the energy to run around unlike Gonzo who was
clearly
tired mid way through the 2nd set of that match and also remember Gonzo does
not have
a very good backhand to go against Nadal's forehand to backhand strategy
while Simon
certainly process a very good double handed backhand.

I have no worry about Rafa at all. I was concerned about Murray
though. I still don't think Rafa will make it through but if he does
Fed will have no problem beating him. This is a hc remember. Rafa has
never won a hc slam, never even made a final and as I recall not even
a SF although maybe he did once I can't remember.

Nadal's made two hc slam semis, USO '08 & AO '08.

so ? so have hundreds of other wannabes. Djock has won a hc slam and
Murray has made the final of the big one. Fed has won EIGHT.

anybody who thinks Rafa has much of a chance is smoking bad shit.

Don't be so defensive, and don't let your biases color reality. I
picked Federer over Nadal in the final, but Nadal certainly has a
decent chance. Assuming both make it.

You should have. On current form he has the title parceled up.

Ridiculous.

And there was a time when Fed had no hc slam and no Wimbledon. Rafa is a young
guy.

Rafa is playing well but how well is bit difficult to say. His last opponent
Gonzalez was
clearly on his last leg into 2nd set of that match, I was watching at the
replay of the match
Gonzo could hardly more even then he somehow broke Nadal in the 3rd set. I
think Simon
and Tsonga/Verdasco will be far better indication of Rafa's level.

Rafa is moving through very nicely - even if i cant stand his new
garb /. colour scheme
