Subject: anything positive for Federer and his fans?
I can't deny it was depressing to watch Federer lose this way today
but there were few positives for Federer.
1- Federer's ground game was solid. Everytime he was getting in a
rally I was like omg Federer for sure will lose the point quickly but
he played great strokes, defense and offense and hit winner with his
BH & FH.
2- Federer camped on the baseline, and never moved behind, he was
taking the ball on the rise with his BH & FH.
3- Federer won the 2nd set with 1st serve% of 35%.

I don't think the surface matters any more when Federer and Nadal
playing each other. Nadal covered the weaknesses in his game to be
more solid on other surfaces.

Yeah, ok analysis. But USO would be a little different, I think. The
faster surface suits Federer more against Nadal - maybe not against all
other players though.

PS.

Federer still has a better serve and volley than Nadal so would still
definitely benefit from a faster surface. Also a lower bouncing
surface will obviously still favour Federer in terms of reach and
control with the single hander.
