NO 1st SERVE, than i can't believe u guys thinking Federer won't ever
beat Nadal in a Grandslam final.

Normally his 1st serve can carry him over the dead moments, surely in
the 5th Federer needed that serve badly.

Nadal didn't do anything special in the 5th set, Federer basically gve
it 2 him

but mind you everyone...Federer is far from finished. He's in much
better physical state this time of the year compared to last year.

Nadal really does look like a reincarnation of Borg, it's like Borg
got a second chance after never winning a hardcourt slam....

Now here comes Nadal 22 and already 6 Slams! amazing.

It really doesn't matter to Federer if u RST guys call him GOAT or not
as soon as he breaks the Sampras or just equals it really, he's the
GOAT. If Nadal somehow breaks THAT record than he's the GOAT no
question about it.

so far it's Federer 13 SLAMS, Nadal 6 still a daylight in SLAM wins
between them, besides i still think Nadal won't be around much after
his 25 birthday

Idiot :-(
So before Pete Emersson was GOAT?
You know so few about tennis, so typical from late tv spectators.

That Federer can serve good is not a question. The question is why
does he choke so badly when he is playing against Nadal? I don't know
how he is going to snap out of it or whether he can ever actually do
it. But mentally he seems decidedly fragile against Nadal. It's does
not bode well for him for the rest of the year.

Just like Nadal gave him Wimbledon in that fifth set 2007. It happens.
Full credit to the winner though.

How could he become goat with only 14 slams, same as Sampras, less Wimbledon
titles (worse mix), less YE#1, less weeks at #1 (full yerar), more loses to
his main rival, no DC, less YEC titles, etc.

Get real.

Sampras *needs* 15. Badly. Not just any two slams, but two blue-chip slams.
Two out of FO,W,USO.

Any difference?
Nothing both junior/childish "proud"...
Wich has in facts more to do with denial than pride.
Refusing your own feelings under ANY GIVEN circumstences is somewhat a
lie to yourself.
Lack of balls to admit it is worse than lack of balls "keep tears for
private use".

Yet there is another option, not involving "willanders", since you can
have no tears in public simply because you are still under the shock.
That is more likely what happened to Nadal at the Wim07.
Rafa doesn't look like a denial guy, and I hope he is not "acting"
fairplay & elegant. I hope he really is both.

True. And who knows how many players cry after slam loses but we don't see
it.

Sometimes you just open up earlier.

To be honest, I don't even think the guy is actually human. He's like
a fucking robot made of titanium. Any potential GOAT talk re: Nadal
doesn't seem at all out of place now.

So, who's your own GOAT?
Borg or Laver?
Or someone from an even more distant era than Laver?

So far only one spanking: FO08.
Plus two 5 setters, quite close each, for different reasons.
Wim08: near peak level both, absolute reference for the 2000's tennis.
AO09: tired & still retrieving Nadal + "zero serve" Federer.

Yet, there is something more very special about them, wich isn't hyped
here.
I wish it was more than "ass picking", or "mirka's weight"... but we
all know how low RST can go :-(

Each time Nadal won slam he had to beat Federer.
Once in the SF, all five next in the final!
This is making BOTH of them shines in a way very few players have
shined.
This is better than borg-mac, mac-lendl, edberg-becker or sampras-
agassi.... much much better.
I am 37 years old, and I had never seen, nor heard of, such thing in
tennis. (I don't know enough about the pre 70's years, for sure,
that's a fact)

This single consideration is making of Nadal a serious GOAT candidate.

He his still (or allready, don't know wich suits better!) only half
way of what Roger has achieved.
Anything beyond 12 slams is so incredible, so unlikely, that is
impossible to take it for granted that Rafa will go at least that far.
He still has 7 times 7 matches in a row to win, before the point
Federer is right now.
So many things can happen, so hard to stay both fit & mentally ready.

Yet, so far so good for him.
It's allready quite obvious that Nadal will have a NCYGS...
I don't feel he will suffer from the same NY syndrom as Bjorn.
So Agassi won't be alone for more than 1 or 2 years, if not sooner.
In fact, Nadal's own legacy would be even greater (no matter how many
slams he will win from now) if Federer was to overtake Sampras 14.
Because both would have to play so often each others before becoming
GOAT for a moment, or a longer while!

Yes, I feel bad for Federer, but he didn't deserved this match.
Wasn't making enough with his BP (no matter how hard Nadal had fight
on those, Federer should have won more often Nadal'serve), and had a
bad day at it own serve.
Yes, I feel as much lucky for the era we're in! So rare to have two
GOAT candidates playing so often, and mostly in slam final!

Manolo

He can't be the GOAT when his main rival spanks his ass so bad
all the time. It's not even a rivalry any more. Verdasco was a
far tougher opponent than Feddy boy.
