I think it could be very close, but Blake has been in superb form this
week.
Federer is tired and may have invested the last of his energy beating
Nadal - emotionaly and physically.

Well, whilst I can't remember exactly the matches played in the 2003
YEC it is safe to say that Federer did not beat the #1, #2 and #3 that
week.

Blake could play sublime tennis and it won't matter. His best doesn't
Fed, who owns Blake. Besides, you're forgetting that Blake's mental
strength on court is zero against Fed. Blake played brilliantly for a
set and a half against Fed at the USO and still was soundly beaten. In
a huge match like this he doesn't stand a chance.

That would be the rational position. The US Open crowd was certainly a
huge factor in how well Blake played part of that match.

But you have to admit that this is the best big match Blake we have ever
seen. He has won every match that counted so far.

I am just hoping that there will be some good fuzz knocked from the ball
covers and some serious rubber burnt on court in the final! :-)

Oh, you can bet on that. This match will not be for weak sisters.

On the other hand Blake is a black man and as we know from Louis Farrkhan,
the black man always wins.

Flawless tennis will do it.

I think Blake has the speed and the game to do some serious damage. The
two big issues are mental toughness and walkabouts.

This is the biggest match of Blake's career, a step or two ahead of the
Masters final in Indian Wells.

He overcame some of the mental issues in the Nadal match with his
comeback 3 times in the 2nd set. But Federer will punish lapses faster
than anyone else out there. And he can hold serve with the best of them.

Blake needs to come out relaxed and swing away as if nothing matters.

If Blake does the impossible, he would have beaten #1, #2 and #3 in a week.

Certainly hope that the match is full of highlights.

Not impossible. Fed did exactly that his 2003 win. Maybe this is Blake's
turn to become James Blake if ya know what I mean...

Close. Federer was #3 at the time.

Hee. Blake of course has a chance in the final, but if he wins it won't be
because Federer achieved some kind of cathartic goal by beating Nadal in
the semis. If there's one thing we know about Federer, it's that he
doesn't play events to make the final; he plays to win the event.

Yeah, it took him all of two sets to beat Nadal.

If he plays like he did against Nadal and at times against Davydenko,
I'll give Blake a set, but I think that's all he'll be getting.

Blake will get beat like a borrowed mule. Let's not try to pretty
up what is for tennis a very ugly situation.
