Ljubicic, Roddick, Baghdatis pull out of Paris Masters dpa German Press Agency Published: Friday ober 27, 2006 Paris- Australian Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis killed off his chances for a place in next month's Masters Cup in Shanghai when he withdrew from the Paris Masters which begins Monday. The Cypriot stands tenth in the race for four remaining spot in the season-ender bringing together the eight best players of the year, but has now eliminated himself from contention. Andy Roddick of the United States, who qualified for Shanghai this week along with Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic, will rest an ankle injury suffered in Madrid and skip the final event of the ATP regular season in France. Ljubicic will also be missing due to a viral infection. Next week's event will settle the lineup for the November Shanghai final, with the world's leading duo of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal the first two to qualify months ago. The players currently ranked fifth to eighth in the year-long points race are Nikolay Davydenko of Russia, Argentina's David Nalbandian, James Blake of the US and Spaniard Tommy Robredo. Federer and Nadal are both expected to play in Paris. Federer is bidding in Basel for a fourth title in a row this autumn while Nadal is keen to finally earn success after failing to reach a semi-final since Wimbledon.
